The church of San Piero di Castello is one of the oldest in Venice and lays its foundations in the seventh century in the island of Olivolo, incorporated in the nascent city of Venice. A century later it was dedicated to St. Peter the Apostle by Bishop Orso Partecipazio. In the sixteenth century the façade was redesigned by Andrea Palladio. The church was the Cathedral of Venice until the 1807, when St. Mark replaced it.
This year from 25 June to 2 July 2017 in Campo San Piero in front of the church on the grassy square illuminated by hundreds of colored bulbs there will be gastronomic stands and stalls of local handicrafts and for the entire duration of the festival you will be able to listen to Venetian musical groups and not only.
